Dear Donna: Wow, I thought I signed the guest book back when. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad and Deann and I would like to offer you our deepest sympathy and condolences. I will always remember taking the film around town and hearing "8 years, 5 months, and 19 days with the Thermo-Jet torch!" You Dad was a remarkable man. When he set his mind on something he got it done. He had a very good sense of humor and was easy to talk too. As a Marine he served his Country well. I can never forget you Dad and believe that he took a very dangerous job and completed because it had to be done. RIP Roy we will all miss you.
Warm Regards,
DAVE O'Lenick

When I lived with my grandfather & grandmother in Ormond Beach, FL, Roy and his wife & children lived across the street from us a few houses down. My grandfather & Roy became very close fishing buddies. I have fond memories of Roy and his wife & family, and spent several times with them fishing, watching movies, enjoying meals together, and admiring the beautiful Halifax River together from my grandparents backporch. I was honored to see Roy again at my grandmother's 99th birhtday celebration in January 2016, and was able to reunite with one of his daughters & son-in-law. I have two pictures of us. It was a honor to know him, and to be a part of someone's life with such admirable history. Blessings to the family. Both my grandparents and Roy have passed on and I am thankful for their lives & friendships in our lives.

Thank you for such an amazing piece of art. The carving of Stone Mountain was as much a family effort with your daughter as any family project ever was. We met in the early days of your storefront display and museum. I remember a picture of your little girl sitting in one of the full scale ears. Our signed poster is framed and displayed proudly as one of our most cherished pieces of art. We all know that as a "Northerner" you never got the fame and recognition you so richly deserved. The Mountain is you trophy now for all of eternity. God Bless

We are so sorry to hear of Roy's passing. He was my father's first cousin, and though I never met him, I felt like I knew him. He will always be remembered for his unmatched accomplishment in honoring our Confederate ancestors. He made our common ancestor, William G Falkner (1825-1865) and all of the rest proud.

I have been knowing Roy and Juanita for over 50 years from when they lived in the Mill Village at the Atlanta Exposition Cotton Mill. We use to run around together and go boat riding at Jackson Lake. My deceased husband, Butch and I went with Roy and Juanita to get married. After they moved down to Covington, Butch and I would drive down to Covington with our boys to see them because Gary and Larry wanted to go horseback riding. Roy asked us several times to let him take us up on the mountain; but we would never go. I asked him how he knew how to do this...his answer was..".God showed me how to do it". I have such fond memories of our past but the most recent and fondness memory is when my sister was out of town on vacation, my niece "Donna" asked me to come visit them. I decided to go. Donna said "this could be my resort for two weeks" and not to worry about anything. She prepared our meals...I believe I even gained a few pounds during that time. I am so glad I did...it was a wonderful time. Every morning I would wake up for coffee and go over to kiss Roy on the cheek. We were a pair...he could not hear good and I could not see good but we still enjoyed each others company. He would watch out for me especially if I needed help getting up. I will always cherish that time we spent together. Roy...you will be missed but never forgotten. May you rest in peace my dear friend.

One of the greatest experiences of my life was meeting Mr. Roy Faulkner in Deland, Florida this year. He is truly a
Southern Hero & Gentleman of the highest order. His completed works of 'Art' relating to Stone Mountain, Georgia, is a pure example of what a Southerner can accomplish above & beyond normal mankind. He is now in the presence of our LORD & SAVIOR & may GOD Bless the FAMILY during this
solemn loss. I am so proud to have met a true "Son of the SOUTH" a-n-d, will never forget him.............

It is one of the best memories in my life to know that I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Roy Faulkner in a different line of work (V.C.D.C.) many years after he completed carving Stone Mountain. Then having the opportunity to see him again 38 years later in Deland, Fl. was really special. This is something that I will cherish for many more years. Rest in Peace Mr. Roy, you have earned God's Glory!

For the last number of years, Roy Faulkner has been our next door neighbor. What a gracious gentleman. He was a delight and joy to know. Never a sharp word came from his mouth- only sweet smiles and an encouraging look. He appreciated everyone and enjoyed their company. It is a sad thing to go into Ron and Donna's house and not see him sitting in his favorite recliner....he will long be remembered by all of us in the neighborhood.

It was an honor to meet Mr. Faulkner and members of his family earlier this year; especially to be a special part, as Historian General, to approve for him the Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal Award for his work on Stone Mountain. The first time I saw this beautiful carving I never thought I would ever meet the man who carved it. He and that beautiful monument will always have a special place in my heart. Rest in peace Mr. Roy.

Donna and Family, Roy was such a loving, brillant man who excelled in his field. I can hear his quiet voice talking about my Mother, LaRue, his first cousin. When I lived in the Atlanta area, I enjoyed taking people to Stone Mountain and bragging on Roy and his ability to create from stone the masterpiece he completed.
I know he will be missed. Love and hugs to all of you. Brenda Greene Parish
