It's good to see so many people acknowledging the life of Rupert Leonard. Rupert was a schoolboy track legend in Massachusetts and New England. The color of his skin did not matter to any of us. The effort that he put into his sport caused us all to really admire him and many black track athlets sought to emulate Rupert. He was astounding and memorable

Rupert elevated every track meet at White Stadium.... You knew he was on his way to a great finish... the crowd loved him.... He made it exciting for all us and it appears that he lived his life the same way.. always a champion. We had a few common friends back then... It has been a while Rest in Peace.

So sad to come across this obituary for Rupert. Whilst he was in Glasgow in 1995 as a Boston PD Officer on an exchange programme with Strathclyde Police (Scotland) he came to my assistance whilst I was my driving my taxi. He single-handedly disarmed my attacker who was attacking me with a twelve inch butchers knife and carried out an arrest assisted by Police Officer Peter McDonald (Strathclyde Police). I will always be eternally grateful for Rupert and Peter for being my guardian angels that...

Condolences to the Leonard family. "Ricky" was one of my big brothers from JP and his mother was a close friend of my mother. Job well done. Rest in peace.
