Ruth Fay Smith, 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Venice, FL on March, 29th 2018. Ruth was born on February 17, 1942 to the late Garnett and Erma Moritz and was proud to have grown up a preacher's kid from N Dakota. Ruth's faith in God was central to her life. She was a light in this world and shared her sense of humor and grace with those she encountered whether working as an OR nurse at Venice Hospital, serving in her church with the choir and prayer groups and missions team to Guatemala, or driving Saturdays for Meals on Wheels.
Ruth married Ray G. Smith 22 years ago in Hawaii, whom she loved dearly and traveled with around the world. She was an encouraging, loving mother and friend to her children Jill Leggett (Mark) and Matthew Kalajian (Kelly) and proud "Grammy" to Micah and Caleb. She loved her sister Lois Zander and brothers Glen Moritz and Dwight Moritz. Ruth enters heaven ahead of these family members as well as other extended family and friends that were so special to her, including Ray's children Cathy Walker, Steve Smith (Bonnie) and Barbara Rollins (Fred).
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 1pm April 7th at Venice Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Wycliffe Bible Translators or The Jesus Film project.

I was a nurse with Ruth at Venice Hospital and remember the fun times we shared at work and you could not miss her distinctive laugh and we were neighbors ai Waterford and enjoyed many get togethers with Ruth and Ray.She was an excellent nurse and a loyal friend .May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived Connie and Fred Hind
