Not sure what to say?

Bev and family,

So sorry to hear about Sal - I have fond memories of our time together at Thomas Jefferson School. He was a wonderful man - he is in my thoughts.

Roseann Shattuck Carenza (now Lemkey)

Todd, Danielle and family- So sorry for your loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time.

When my brother Ed entered nbhs in 1984 and joined the football team with Todd, Tommy Petrisko and Bobby Breu I was 10 yrs old. But I used to play pickup games with them on weekends and I got to learn and understand the game by playing with them. So, from what my brother Ed learned from Coach Verdi and Tommy's father, Coach Paul Petrisko, he was able to instill in me. I remember how sad I was when coach retired when Todd graduated in '88. I was a freshman in Sept. 89 and just missed reuniting...

To the Verdi family: Like I told Todd, Coach Verdi was my 1st coach Ever, regardless of sport. Baseball-1983- Fagan League Cubs. Danielle and Tori were my teammates as well as Amy and Peter Griswold ! We won the championship that yr. I'll remember the pool party at the Verdi household on Corbin ave forever ! I was 8 ! God bless u Coach ! U only coached me 1 yr but I am still influenced by ur teachings 30 yrs later ! U will be missed, but NEVER forgotten.

Bev and family, my condolences to you and your family. Sal was a fantastic person and mentor to me during my time at NBHS. He was was the best and keep in mind, he shared with everyone. He will be missed and remembered as a fantastic person! The loss of a parent is very hard, and my thoughts are with all of you.

Very sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad. He was a great influence for many of us who grew up in NB.

To Sal's loving family,
It was my pleasure to teach with Sal at both Slade and NBHS. He always had a smile, a back pat, a "good job " for each student but just as important for each teacher. Maybe that was the inner coach in him. My warmest memories connect to his attitude toward our Special Ed students. At Slade (prior to any federal mandates) Sal was one of the first to say yes to having some of our very physically disabled students join in his classes. Why not? That was his attitude....
