Read MoreThis coach was the greatest of all of my coaches and I had many. He knew basketball well, he also knew what was real for younger athletes and tried to prepare them for what was ahead. I respected him then, 8th grade, and now 50 years or more later, even more. My condolences to all his family, he will be missed I am sure.

As a young man at St. Mary's I was fortunate to have been coached by Sam Baca. He taught me that staying focused and making a maximum effort will make you a Champion. What he taught me served me well in my career working in Corporate America.
