AS A YOUNG ROOKIE FIREFIGHTER IN THE 70'S,I WAS ALWAYS APPREHENSIVE ABOUT FILLING IN AT OTHER STATIONS. WHEN I FILLED IN AT OLD 5'S, SAM WAS ALWAYS THERE TO MEET ME AND I FELT A LITTLE SAFER. HE WAS A GREAT FIREMAN AND SWELL GUY. CHIEF H. M. ROSS JR.- RETIRED
