Sam was a terrific gardener! I remember the time Sam borrowed my groundhog trap to get the culprit who ate his Zucchini plant (he was so mad about that groundhog after all his hard work to grow the plant). Within an hour after I dropped it off, he called me for help, as the groundhog had died in the trap and he couldn't lift the trap. This puzzled me until I saw the size of this animal, dead with one eye missing, in the trap. It was the largest groundhog I ever saw, and it must have weighed...
