Samuel M. Petrides, 47, of Trinity, FL peacefully fell asleep in the Lord, while holding his parents’ hands on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor, FL. Samuel (Sammy) was born in Hartford, CT and was the loving and devoted son of Father Michael S. and Presbytera Eleni (Agapitou) Petrides. Sammy was committed to and had deep knowledge of his Greek Orthodox faith and loved to share that knowledge with family and friends. He was a graduate of Ohio State University and a true Buckeye fan, who also rooted for the UCONN Huskies. Sammy was an avid reader, with a photographic memory. He loved life and spending quality time with family and friends, enjoying a good meal, great conversation and laughs. Sammy had an enormous heart and a great deal of compassion and empathy for others. His kind and loving nature was still with him as he fought a courageous battle with cancer. His strong faith, gratitude and hope in the Lord carried him through.
Samuel is survived by his loving parents, Father Michael S. and Presbytera Eleni (Agapitou) Petrides, Uncle, Aunt and Godparents Mark and Maria Karagiannis, Uncle Frank Agapitou, Uncle and Aunt Dr. Richard and Angela Mahfood, Uncle James Petrides, Uncle and Aunt Charles and Tsambika Cucuras, Godmother Despina Sigambris, several cousins, Koumbari, Godchildren and cherished friends. Samuel was predeceased by his grandparents Samuel and Maria Petrides and John and Stamatia Agapitou. He will forever be in our hearts. May his memory be eternal.
Funeral service for Samuel will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 10:30am at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford with the Rev. Dr. George Zugravu, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, CT. Relatives and friends may call at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm. There will be a Trisagion service at 6:30pm.
