Not sure what to say?

I have only recently learned of Dr. Somers passing and want to extend my deepest condolences to his family...as a patient of Dr. Somers, I truly understand each sentiment of his obituary...I actually looked forward to my "5 year meetings" with him, he always had a big smile and was indeed one of the smartest, kindest, and caring people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. May he rest in peace and may the many fond memories he built with his loving family help them thru this very sad time.

I spent two trips in Taiwan with Sam - the 2nd at Stanford Center in Taipei - we were the only two people from Dartmouth. Hung out a lot that summer - very smart, hard-working and insightful guy. I am not surprised to reading in all these posts that he was a terrific doctor. Always wished we had stayed in touch. Very, very sorry to hear of this tragedy and best wishes to his family. I will try to find a photo of us in Taiwan together and post it.

I was so lucky to have experienced the love and warmth as a long time patient of Dr Somers. I always felt that I really mattered and he was always smiling and respectful. I cannot believe such a vibrant and loving soul has left us all way too soon. My sincere condolences to his family, who will be without the light in their lives. Hugs and love to them all. RIP Dr Somers.

Working with Sam would bring a smile to my face from the moment I saw the schedule, and all throughout the day. Great deep conversations, updates on the girls, the latest in patient care, but always time to inquire about my boys as well. I really miss him.

Dr Somers saved my life. I would like to tell you my story. At 53 years old I had an issue with bleeding going to the bathroom. I was referred to GI associates. Dr Somers did my first colonoscopy and found I inherited a genetic gene which caused me to have multiple colon polyps. There was one that was very large and he explained to me he was not able to say if it contained cancer. Dr Somers called me personally a few weeks later to tell me he had some news to tell me that might be a bit...

I was a patient of Dr. Somers and so grateful for his care. My deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to his family.

I was saddened to learn of Dr. Somers´ passing. I´ve been a patient of his for years and I felt on more than one occasion that I was his only patient. He was inquisitive enough to spend the extra time to truly figure out what was happening to me and the why and together developed a strategy that I´ll utilize for many years. Such a loss to the community, to his family and I honestly looked forward to seeing him and chatting, he was very personable.

Dr. Somers was my doctor for nearly 2 decades. I didn't know him outside of his work, but I can tell you the reference to him having a heart of "pure joy" is something I know to be true. A few years back, he was informing me just before the anesthesia kicked-in what he´d be doing in the colonoscopy exam, including taking a number of pictures. I joked to him, "Doc, if this was a Disney ride, I´d have a picture at the end to show the adventure to my kids." He laughed as I fell asleep. When...

I was a patient of Dr. Somers for many years. He was a kind soul who would always make sure you felt comfortable. I´m sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
