Sandra Weil Obituary

Sandra Claire Stein Weil, born February 3, 1939, in Birmingham, Alabama-deceased December 6, 2021, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother & dedicated wife to Farrel Arnold Weil Sr. (deceased January 6, 2019). She graduated from Shades Valley High School in Birmingham, Alabama, then she graduated from Sophie Newcombe College in New Orleans, Louisiana, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She then went to New York City as a hat model. She returned to New Orleans and married on August 22, 1961. Sandra & Farrel were married for 58 years. She was loved by all and enjoyed photography, swimming, golf, needlepoint & crochet. She was a buyer for Town & Country Boutique, and she enjoyed traveling domestically & internationally. She shared her experiences with her family at her elegant and delicious dinners and parties. She was an avid reader and history buff, and she shared her knowledge of Louisiana history through her guided tours at the Musée Conti Wax Museum. She was an active member of the New Orleans Tourist Association. Later in life, she & Farrel Sr. spent time in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where they enjoyed walks, golf, and cross country skiing. Sandra spent many lovely seasons with friends and family in Wyoming. She is survived by her three children: Allison Weil Ambort, Katherine Weil Spurlock (Lawrence Victor Spurlock), Farrel Arnold Weil Jr., her four grandchildren: Willis Law Spurlock, Sandra Blaine Spurlock, and Adelaide Simone Ambort, Madeleine Claire Ambort, and their father (Steven Neal Ambort). Also, her sister Myra Stein Fischel (Bert Fischel) and their children Jill Fischel Kasser (Brian Kasser), Jason Fischel (Sharon Silber Fischel). She was preceded in death by her parents, Rachel Labovitz Stein and Abe Stein. We are all so blessed to have had such a wonderful mom, and for all the beautiful moments we shared with her, we have the fondest memories of times spent together and are grateful for the precious moments we shared. Mom will always be with us in our hearts and souls, and we know she can rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Association are appreciated.
