Sarah Halbauer Obituary

Halbauer, Sarah Ophelia (Shaw),

90, went to her Heavenly Father on the wings of angels. She died peacefully at Essex surrounded by her family. Ophelia was born May 15, 1926 in Meriwether, Georgia to the late Raymon and Dera (Shuemate) Shaw. She was united in marriage to John J. Halbauer from St. Paul Minnesota December 20, 1947 in Elizabethtown , Kentucky for 68 years.

They met in Kentucky when John was in the Army stationed at Fort Knox. They settled in Louisville, Kentucky in 1955. To this union brought 8 children to bless this home.

She worked in a cotton mill in Georgia and Holiday Inn in Louisville. Most of all she was a wife, mother and a homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John J. Halbauer, Sisters Myrtice Morris, Betty Smith. Brothers Johnny Shaw (Natie), William T. Shaw, James T. Shaw, Billy J. Shaw and Curtis Shaw.

She is survived by Daughter Rhonda Halbauer Duvall (Tommy), Sons: Roger Ussery ( Remy), Daniel (Connie), Steve, William T., Gregory, Chris (Bart), Ries (Tami). Grandchildren, Diane, Tommy Jr., Shaun, Shannon, Tina, Steve, David, Travis, Dena, Jessica, Melissa, Roman, Payden, Shane, Roger, Rodrick and Randy; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; sister, Mary Ivey (Raliegh), sister-in-law, Margie.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 at 12 noon at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
