I knew Doug for a brief period, but he influenced my decisions from that period though the present. He was one of the good people.

Doug was one grade ahead. Graham was in my class. In fact

I so wish I could have been with you and your family. I pray that God will hold you close and comfort you as only he can.

I just learned about Doug's Passing tonight, and I wish to offer my deepest sympathy.

I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. You have a wonderfully close and loving family and I hope that will be a comfort to you during this time.

The first time I ever ran into him, he and I were both stocking up "adult beverages" for parties we were hosting. We connected because we were both in great moods, it was campaign season, and it was so clear he was very fond of this guy I liked named McKeel. ("You know him?" I asked, "or does he own your vehicle?")

As time went by I made a point to keep an eye out for him at any event: he preferred a spot with a view to a spot in the middle of the room, and I treasured watching...

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss in your family. God has a plan for all of us and our confort in this life comes from him.
