Dr. Shelley Theno

Shelley remains in my heart and I think of her everyday. I miss her so much; her beautiful smile, and the way she lit up a room as she lit up my life.

I can't even begin to express how much I miss Shelley. She was simply one of the finest people I've ever known. Sitting in her office every day, I feel her presence so strongly. She will be a part of all of us for the rest of our lives. If I can be half the teacher she was, I'll be doing pretty well.

To Steve and Seneca: May peace find you during this time of loss. After reading all of these wonderful entries, the words I would have chosen have been repeated time and time again. Dr. Theno was my mentor, my inspiration and I still believe the doll manufacturers missed a grand opportunity to create a "Dr. Shelley Theno superheroine action figure." What a force to be reckoned with, she was!

I will miss her forever, but her influence will remain with me always!

Gayle & I had the pleasure of seeing Anchorage from the sky in your great plane tour you gave us thanks to our friendship with Jan. It was a shame to hear of your loss, way too young, please accept our condolences. The obit was beautiful, it sounds like heaven got a great addition with earth's loss.

Steve and family, we are so sorry to hear of Shelley's passing. Although the times we spent together were far apart in time and miles, we shall cherish our friendship always. We will forever remember standing on the bridge in Chicago into the wee hours and our days in Salem and Rockport, MA. She was such a warm and loving person. We shall miss her always. I first met Shelley over 18 years ago (I was 11), and I can honestly say that in that first meeting I remember she invoked the “fear of God” in me. Dear Steve and Seneca, We were saddened to hear of Shelley's passing. We never did get to spend much time with all of you but really enjoyed the few short visits we had. Steve and I are on a job in Eunice,NM. We live in Andrews TX in the motorhome. If you are ever in the area please let us know. If there is anything we can do ever, call on us.

Over 40 years ago I walked into my third grade classroom and sat next to this freckle-faced brunette. Shelley introduced herself and we became instant friends. She has remained my best friend all of these years. We danced a hula in the 5th grade play,made a pinata in the image of her dachshund, Archie, in the sixth grade,went through the "boy craze" together, spent a New Years in Vegas (what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, even though we laughed for years about our stay.)and shared stories...

I've always thought of Shelley as a big sister. She was the best listener, always giving you her full attention. She had the greatest smile - it would light up my day when I would see her in the hallways on campus. I will miss her laugh - so genuine. I will miss torturing her by spelling her name wrong - always great fun!

I know what Shelley meant and will always mean to me. But I feel lucky to have been able to hear from the students that she taught...
