Not sure what to say?

Dear Dr. Polly,

I was so sorry to receive your message on "Foot's" passing. I really believed God would bring him thru, but God knows best. I can only imagine your loss, I know you and Foot have been thru the storm and rain together seems like throughout eternity. You have my deepest sympathy. May God continue to keep you strong in his loving arms.

Love you girl!

To the entire Long family:
I know to be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord, and that blessing helps to give me peace about losing our beloved Foot. I share the sentiments of those who grew up with him in Blair Heights. I remember when he and Dr Polly first started going together. I remember when Karl was born. Foot's strange and wonderful sense of humor will live on with us forever and all of us who have been graced to know him have truely been blessed.

Dr. Long:
It was a honor to have met and dialogue with Brother Sherman. My continued prayers for your strength and the comfort in knowing the love you and Brother Sherman shared is for eternity.

Rev. Dr. Judith C. Moore

Pauline,
My deepest condolences to you and your family. I loved Foot like a brother. As you know, he spent a lot of time at our house playing cards, etc. Although I will miss him, I realize he is out of his pain and in the Lord's embrace.

Pauline,
I was so very saddened and surprised to hear of Sherman's passing. He would always stop by my office to visit while in the area. I will never forgot the many laughs we had while he was a student at the Katz School. He will truly be missed. My prayer is that God will continue to give you strength and peace.

My deepest sorrow to my friend Pauline and her family in the passing of her husband, Sherman. The few times that I sat with Sherman, he impressed me as a man of wit, of intellect, and a man of honor.

I remember Sherman "Foot" Long so well. He was such an intelligent person and his intellect was evident at all times while conversing with him or if you were in any proximity of his conversation with others. I recall him as very confident but not brash and one who enjoyed laughter. Such a great personality !!!

Although I last saw Sherman 20 years ago in 1987 at our 20th year high school reunion ('67), his dynamic personality feels like yesterday that I also vividly recall 40 years...

Dear Pauline and Family,
What a joy it was to know Sherman! He's was always so supportive of your activities with the Pitt alumni, and was quick with a smile and a hug when he came to our events. The love the two of you shared was clear to everyone who saw you together. I was blessed to have known him.

Pauline,
I was saddened to hear of Sherman's passing. I will remember him and your family in my prayers.
