Sherman McCombs Obituary
He was born in Polk County, N.C., son of the late Leonard and Eleanor Harris McCombs.
Mr. McCombs retired from Pharr Yarns, Inc., McAdenville and was a member of Garver Memorial Baptist Church, Gastonia.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Carringer and husband Jerry Hargett of Kings Mountain; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Porch McCombs of Kings Mountain; one brother, Lindsay McCombs and wife Nell of Siler City, N.C.; two grandchildren, Rusty Carringer and wife Sharon of Kings Moun-tain, Crystal Adams and husband Franklin of Charlotte; five great-grandchildren, James Carringer, Sara Carringer of Kings Mountain, Anthony Adams, Walker Adams, Stella Adams of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.
Graveside services will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston, N.C. with the Rev. David Stewart officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fannie Towery McCombs; son, Tony McCombs; six brothers, John, Boyd, Clifford, Joe, Guy and Virgil McCombs; one sister, Nancy McDonald.
The family requests that memorials be made to: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5950 Fairview Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, N. C. 28210 or Garver Memorial Baptist Church, 1920 Modena Street, Gastonia, NC 28054.

Dear Carolyn,
I come to love your Dad while my Dad shared a room with him at White Oak. I just visited with him a few days ago and he was smiling and happy to see me. I was sorry to see that Sherman had passed. I have some very fond memories of him. My Father, James Cable, was his roommate for awhile at White Oaks Manor and they would eat together. I would be there sometimes for supper and Sherman would always try to give me something off his plate. When I think of him I always get a smile on my face.
