Sherri was a dynamic presence on the SFS sociology faculty when I enrolled as an undergraduate in 1968. She was eccentric, energetic, creative, and fun. She was part of a group of sociology faculty at the time that promoted ethnography, and she inspired us with her Hippies of the Haight, a pioneer work on the then still emerging hippie culture.
