Shirley Howell Obituary

Shirley Jolly Howell
1933-2016
Shirley Jolly Howell, born on October 1, 1933 in Petersburg, VA to Burnell Wallace Jolly and Vera Gould Jolly, passed away in Allen, TX on February 27, 2016.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton, TX.
Graveside services will be at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton, TX.
She was a graduate of Petersburg High School in VA and attended Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia. In Indiana on May 3, 1958, she married Hulen Wayne Howell of Wills Point, TX. Afterwards, they lived in Chicago and Hometown, IL, where Shirley worked for United Airlines for several years. After moving from Lubbock to Houston, TX, she became an Avon representative, a part-time occupation she enjoyed for almost 40 years. During this time, she also worked for several years at Memorial Junior High School. Shirley was a long time member of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Houston.
She is preceded in death by her Parents and Husband of 45 years, Hulen Wayne Howell.
She is survived by her beloved family, Daughter, Brenda & Hank Slawson of Allen, TX; Son, Wayne & Kimberly Howell of Houston, TX; and four grandchildren, Kelly Slawson & Husband, David Findura of Wylie, TX; Cody Slawson of Allen, TX; and Caleb & Weston Howell of Houston, TX.
Shirley, whom we fondly called "Shirley Belle", "Mumps", or "Mumpy", so dearly loved us all and was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones.
We so miss our beautiful, loving, funny, and kind mother, but are most grateful for her 82 years on earth, and we rejoice that she is in God's loving presence.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
