Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home - Cincinnati Obituary

Shirley Ann Kimbler, nee Wendeln, born April 27, 1928, in Dayton, OH. died peacefully in her home in Tampa, FL, April 15, 2024, at the age of 95. She was the beloved wife of Ronald M. Kimbler for 68 years and loving mother of Rick (Margeaux) Kimbler, Karen (Glenn) Rankin, Debbie (Jerry Messerschmitt) Kimbler, Jeff (Peter Dreissig) Kimbler, and Steve (Vivian) Kimbler; grandmother to Alexandra (Tom) Ziegan, Meredith Kimbler, George (Pranam Parsanlal) Allendorf, Jessica (Ian) Kimbler-Hypes, Caroline Kimbler, and Catherine Kimbler;  great grandchildren, Tyson, Libby and Mitch Ziegan, Benjamin DeMille, Oliver Kimbler and Charlotte Rose Hypes. Shirley is predeceased by her parents, Horace and Luella (Elsass) Wendeln, husband, Ronald Kimbler, and grandaughter, Meghan (Doug) Demille. Survived by sisters Nancy (Jim) Sims, Deanna (Ron) Roth and in-laws, Larry (Susy) Kimbler and Sandy (Dave) Kimbler as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Stivers High School Shirley worked as a secretary for Frigidaire, where she met her future husband, Ron. In high school she enjoyed sports, such as softball, and was part of the marching band as a majorette.

Shirley raised her family in Dayton until 1972, when they moved to South Florida. After making that transition, she began working full time in an insurance office as secretary/administrator until she retired in 1993.

Apart from work and family, Shirley played golf casually and followed the PGA regularly. But she was fierce about her role on the bocce team. She played to WIN, achieving numerous team trophies and serving as President several seasons. That same passion showed in her many years of playing Euchre.

After Ron’s passing, she moved to Tampa in 2018. Being in the area with Steve and Karen allowed more opportunities for family visits and outings. She turned her competitive spirit to Rummikub and Words with Friends.

Shirley easily made friends, starting in childhood, and those friendships lasted a lifetime. Until the past few months, she was still in touch with family and friends across the country.

The family would like to thank Timberlyn, Jonnarrow, Destiny and all those who cared for Mom, making her days at Allegro pleasant and enjoyable.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45241. Visitation will begin at 10:30am with Blessing Service and Burial at 12noon. Lunch will be served in the funeral home Reception Room. All guests are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, in memory of Shirley Kimbler, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229 or to the charity of your choice.  www.mrfh.com
