SHIRLEY RUTTNER Obituary

RUTTNER, SHIRLEY CAROLINE (KNOPP) Shirley Caroline (Knopp) Ruttner of Guilford, CT died peacefully on December 11th at Connecticut Hospice where she was surrounded by her children. Originally from Yakima, WA, she moved to Orange, CT in 1965 which is where she raised her three children with her husband of 55 years, James Ruttner. Shirley enjoyed gardening, baking cookies, and decorating her home, especially during the holiday season. An avid reader, Shirley could be found at the Guilford Public Library several times per week taking out the mysteries she loved. Shirley was a gifted and creative quilt maker, and was especially proud of the quilts she made for each of her 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Shirley was beloved by her 3 children; Michael Ruttner of Boston, MA, Sally Ruttner of Florence, KY, Nancy Iannuzzi of Madison, CT; her stepson Steven Ruttner of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren Caroline, Julia, and Benjamin Ruttner and Michael, Nicholas, and Christopher Iannuzzi, and her great-grandchildren Isabel and Harper Hoyt who are heartbroken and missing her terribly. A memorial service will be held at the North Madison Congregational Church at 1:00 pm on January 24th, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
