SIMONA LUNA MURILLO

Simona Luna Murillo, age 94, passed away on April 13, 2012 at her home.  Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. - 10:45 A.M. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Sacred Heart-Guadalupe Church, 2544 Madison, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the Church. Burial will follow Mass at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart Church (Mailing address: 907 Cesar Chavez Ave, Kansas City, MO 64108) in Simona's name.  Simona, the oldest of 8 children, was born on Jan 5, 1918 in Torreon, Coahuiala Mexico.  During her working career, she held numerous jobs and retired from Armour Foods then began a second career with the Dept of Social Security where she retired for good in 1983.  In 1965, she married Basilio Murillo in her birthplace of Torreon.  Simona had a passion for growing flowers, sewing, cooking and going out to eat.  Never having had children of her own, she was a caring and loving "Tia" to her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.  She enjoyed spending time with them, taking them out to eat, going to a movie and buying them things.  She was preceded in death by her husband: Basilio, parents: Crescencio and Carlota R. Luna, brothers: Antonio, Fernando and Raymond Luna, sisters: Mary Rios, Margarita Madrigal, Elvira Ruiz and Linda Corona Bolsenga.  She is survived by her youngest sister: Julie Padilla Hicks, brother-in-law: Jim Bolsenga and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would like to extend their special thanks to all of her friends, neighbors and adopted families for their love, care and assistance given to Simona over the years.
