Dearest Jazz and Barbie,
Words cannot express how sad we feel for the loss of your mom. John and I did not know her well, but we know the two of you. You each will carry a part of Sonia with you. You each have intelligence and charm and grace and wonderful senses of humor, some of which I'm sure you got from Sonia. John and I wish we could do some magic spell to make this not so painful, but we can't. All we can do is say we love you both very much and you are always in our thoughts...

I love you Mom & will miss you. There are so many things to say... But you know how I feel. We had that wonderful trip to Mexico last month & I got to tell you how much I appreciated Ycamp, our wedding, our house, your cooking, your love of literature, books, photography, Art, poetry, esp, L.Carroll. So many things, Mom, the hell we all survived, #150, 1975, tic-tacs & sugar cereals, Steven & Michael, Mike & Grams... But mostly, the good, like late nite talks, sardines, being able to cry...
