Dear Lydia, I send love and comfort to you and your family at the loss of Splint. It is devastating when we lose our loved ones. May you feel the comfort and presence of Angels anytime you need it.

We had a neighborly chat almost everyday. Splint was a good egg. Like everybody here in the Neck, including their labradoodle, Louie, we loved him and miss him. To the whole family, especially Lydia, we are so so sorry.

Splint was easy to like. I remember when he first came thundering down Haddam Neck Road on his motorcycle to court Lydia. And then over the years I saw him frequently at Brendan's work site or barn raisings. He always greeted me with open arms, a ready smile, and a funny or ironic tale. He made me feel special, as I suspect he did for many others. Splint had health issues over the years but he dealt with them. He worked and lived and enjoyed life. He is one of a kind.
