We had a neighborly chat almost everyday. Splint was a good egg. Like everybody here in the Neck, including their labradoodle, Louie, we loved him and miss him. To the whole family, especially Lydia, we are so so sorry.

Splint was easy to like. I remember when he first came thundering down Haddam Neck Road on his motorcycle to court Lydia. And then over the years I saw him frequently at Brendan's work site or barn raisings. He always greeted me with open arms, a ready smile, and a funny or ironic tale. He made me feel special, as I suspect he did for many others. Splint had health issues over the years but he dealt with them. He worked and lived and enjoyed life. He is one of a kind. I already miss him and look forward to sharing stories about him with his large family and many friends.

My deepest condolences Lydia, et al. I first met Splint through Lydia and found him easy with a love of dogs and all things sports. We shared our love of UCONN Women's Basketball and all dogs. We spoke of golf and my handicap...also called golf, and shared many very funny jokes. I, as many others, will miss Splint who brightened days with his easy nature and infectious smile.

Oh boy, this is a tough one for me. Splint was the first person that I met in Haddam Neck quite expectedly. He was magnanimous and a warm gentleman from the get go. From there, we forged a warm relationship about all things mechanical and the art of "wrenching on stuff". Our friendship evolved to include the merging of our personal friendship with that of our families which we cherish to this day. Splint took me on as his golfing partner even though I was nowhere his equal! He was very patient with me where others would have dismissed me as a hack. I am very fortunate to have been his cart buddy for the last four years with the perfect Haddam Neck foursome! He was a solid friend and will be missed for the rest of my life.
