Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolonces go out to the Alex family at this time of grief. While it has been a long time since I have seen or spoken to Spero or any members of the Alex family, I was fortunate enough to grow up as a childhood friend of his son Manuel. I will never forget being at the Fair Valley Pool and being young and Spero throwing us through the air to come down splashing in the water and as we grew up he became a coach, teaching, and mentoring all of us on the soccer field. I couldn't have...

Having worked in the public relations department at Grandview for 10 years (1988-1998), there was a period of time where our team reported to Spero. I have very fond memories as he was a very supportive and gracious person as well as smart, strategic, witty and had a wonderful sense of humor, too. I offer my sincere sympathy to the Alex family.

My deepest sympathy to all of the Alex family with the passing of Spero. I remember everything we did together as kids from swimming and playing at Miami Valley, our days at Belle Haven and then when we moved next door to his family in 1971. It sure made acclimating to a new school easy when you were a friend of Spero. He taught me all the Greek I know...none of it that I could say in mixed company. Too many great memories to recite them all. I was fortunate to have known him and to be able...

I am saddened to hear of Spero's passing. Condolences to the entire family. As a Northmont graduate, I remember him as a kind, inspiring, driven young man. My heart felt sympathy and prayers for all.

I was hoping the obituary would indicate what high school Spero attended. If it was Northmont City Schools, Spero would have been one of my students. It is not the first time I have lost a student, but it saddens me when I see a life snuffed out so young. The Spero I knew was rarely absent; but if he missed class, we would sometimes find his name as Alex Spero. He was always graceful when someone reversed his name. If he was not a Thunderbolt, please accept my condolences for your...

We never got the opportunity to meet Spero, but we were filled with many stories by his son Manuel, and our niece Danelle. The admiration and respect for his father was reflected in the many times Manuel proudly spoke about his dad. Our hearts our breaking for the entire family during this tremendous loss. May God Bless you and help you find comfort in time with all of the wonderful memories you will hold in your hearts forever!

So sorry to lose such a great man. I always had the greatest respect and admiration for Spero from the time we were kids growing up. May his memory be eternal. Ernie Davis
