My sincere sympathy to each of you on the passing of your beloved husband and father, a wonderful human being.

I was privileged to work alongside Stan when his office was next to mine at the school administrators (AASA).

He taught me much about education and the politics relating to it in Washington. What a career he had... he nearly singlehandedly won the battle to create the Department of Education; and he made NEA the education...

He was loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed greatly. I'll never forget the twinkle in his eyes when he offered me sparkling cider for the toast at Becky & Bobby's wedding.
