STEPHANIE COHEN

I send my first anniversary condolences to Stephanie´s family and friends as they gather again to remember her and to celebrate her remarkable life. I was in her Scarsdale writing class with Louise Albert in the 80´s and 90´s, a rapt listener to Stephanie´s stories and observations. She was a kind critic of our writing, encouraging us by her own bravery in sending pieces to the New York Times "Metropolitan Diary" and getting her humorous essays published. I have her book of short stories...

Our family lived across the hall from Stephanie on West End Avenue in the early 1950s. My late mom remained her good friend for years. I remember her warm smile and sending me a congratulatory telegram upon my college graduation, more than 55 years ago. I pass along my condolences to the family.

Dear Stephanie was the light of our poetry group with her wisdom, laughter and caring ways. So many memories of her, her stories, poems, home and garden.
