I did not personally know Stephen but am a Birkbeck myself with my family originally from the Westerly area. Please accept my sincere condolences to the family on behalf of myself and my family.

My deepest sorrows are with you all right now.Steve has always been special to me.He was like a over grown teddy bear.He never let me walk in a room without flipping me the bird.I'm going to miss him dearly.He was a good brother-in-law and the only one I had for a long time.If you kids need anything let me know.I love you all and miss you bunches.hug and kisses ,Aunt Reet

I have known Steve for a long time, we go back to the 70s when we started working together at the Highway Department. He loved the snow, and would have to be called into the garage to go home.

Steve and I were good friends off the job as well. Trips to Vermont, canoing, fishing, and the thing that he loved to do the most.... drive around exploring. He knew of more places than I'll ever know.

He helped me build my house, and we worked side by side for a long time.

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
