I have known Steve for a long time, we go back to the 70s when we started working together at the Highway Department. He loved the snow, and would have to be called into the garage to go home.
Steve and I were good friends off the job as well. Trips to Vermont, canoing, fishing, and the thing that he loved to do the most.... drive around exploring. He knew of more places than I'll ever know.
He helped me build my house, and we worked side by side for a long time.
I'll miss you Steve, and I hope that you never run out of gas on the trip that you've now started on.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
