Not sure what to say?

In the fall of 1974, Steve was a senior in high school and visited several colleges, accompanied by his parents and even his young brother. When he got to Haverford College, Steve had a bit of a "show me" attitude during his campus tour. His tour guide, a senior, was a bit distracted at first, but quickly realized that this was a special case. Steve was exactly what Haverford wanted in a student, so the college student shifted gears and made sure the Gellmans met the right people and got...

I am writing to send my condolences; I went to Haverford and got to know Steve my freshman year when he served as our "customs man" or RA and was always impressed by his helpfulness and decency - I also worked at the same law firm as his wife Wendy, Richards & O'Neil - I am very sorry for your loss

Steve with Dave Hilbert, Haverford College 1976

This news brought deep sadness. Steve was a Haverford classmate. I have not seen him since college but remember his grace on the tennis court, his love of philosophy, his engaging smile, and how he took a special interest in reaching out to help others. My heart goes out to his family.

Sincerest condolences to all the family, We wish you all- the strength to carry on. Fern & Murray Becker

Steve was my "customs" person (dorm advisor) at Haverford College. I looked up to him. He was handsome, played a beautiful game of tennis, and had a beautiful girlfriend. He taught tennis at a summer camp in the berkshire mountains, and obtained a job for me the following summer teaching many of the same children he taught. They idolized him, as I did, and it was a tough act to follow. He had a sense of fun combined with a core of decency. There are not many like him

So sorry to hear this sad news. He was a fellow Stanford Law classmate. My heartfelt condolences to his family. This is such a difficult time for them.

I was a good friend of Steve for four years at Haverford. I'm terribly sorry to hear of his passing and give my condolences to his family and friends. He was sincere and warm, intense but easy-going. A wonderful person to have as a friend.

I went to high school with Steve and saw him at all of our reunions. Every time I spent time with Steve it was enjoyable - I keep seeing the word "kind" mentioned in every note here and so many of the thoughts on Facebook. Steve had so many great qualities, but kindness was certainly how I will remember him most. What a wonderful guy who I know will be tremendously missed.

To Steve's family,
I was a friend and classmate of Steve's at Stanford Law School. He was a wonderful, gifted, kind and elegant man. I can't imagine your great sense of loss but am sure that your lives have been enhanced forever by his life. -- Sincerely, Michelle Facktor
