STEPHEN EMMETT LYONS

This was devastating news. I was fortunate to be one of Steve's colleagues as a reporter at the Daily Hampshire Gazette in the early 1980s. He was a star -- super smart, hard-working, and prolific. We were in awe of him. But Steve was also warm and kind, and we had many fun times together (hiking, softball, etc.). It's no surprise that he went on to a brilliant career in public television production and was a stellar husband and dad.
