J M Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc. - Petersburg Obituary

Mr. Stephen Walter Pulley, Jr. “Bro”, a man of few words, but had a heart of gold,  was a loving and dedicated husband, an awesome father, a fun-loving grandfather, caring brother, calm uncle, loving brother-in-law, passionate coach, proud United States Army Veteran, and blessing to many.  According to his son, Stephen Ryan, if you didn’t know him, it was an injustice and a shame, you missed out!  It was on Friday, March 30, 2018; Stephen “Bro” received his wings.  He joined Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, VA, at an early age.

Meeting him at the pearly gates will be his warm-hearted and caring mother, Mary Eva Flowers-Pulley; father, Stephen Walter Pulley Sr.; his loving mother-in-law, Marjorie Bell Lambert-Moss, and father-in-law, John Robert Moss, Sr.; his pals, Paul and Silas Reed, who he never forgot and often talked about from the roots of Piney Beach and many more of his family members.

Coach Pulley loved life and coaching.  He instilled in his players a sense of self-discipline, respect, hard work, and winning seasons.  He coached with the Petersburg Department of Recreation, Dinwiddie Department of Recreation, and Dinwiddie County High School Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams for many years.

His legacy will be continued by his DREAM TEAM, his confidant, best friend, ride-or-die wife of forty-two years, Jacqueline F. Moss-Pulley; his “favorite” daughter who encouraged him to never give up, Dr. Shavon Comanika; his go-to sons, Stephen Ryan who nursed him continually through his illness, and De’Quincy “Dee” who loved him to the moon and back; his daughter-in-law, Shakira that always had his back; his two grandsons, Branden Ryan, his favorite basketball player and Camren Ryan, his “Boss Baby”, and his granddaughter, Raven.

Also, to remember “Bro” are his caring siblings, Mary Pulley-Crawley (Timothy), their children Bridget Betts (Roger) and son, Brian Crawley (Angie); Martha Kay Pulley-Jones (Milton) their children, Ashley Jones and Jason Jones (Natasha); John Kennedy Pulley and his children, Olivia and Kennedy Pulley; Monica Pulley-Stith and her daughter, Myiah Stith; Stanley L.  Pulley (Cheryl) and his children, Justin Parker and Siara Hannah-Pulley; and his “baby sister”, Monique Pulley-Gregory (Jason) and their children, Austin Parham-Gregory and Miles Gregory; aunts, Irene E. Burrow, Alma Doris Cooper (Reverend Clarence), Rose Ann Flowers, Wilma Malone (James), Agnes Thorne, Bernice Harvell, and Sue Allen; uncles, Reverend Alfred H. Flowers, Fred Pulley and Eddie Pulley (Pearl); his sisters-in-law, Shelia Moss (Charles) and their daughter Asia Briggs and Debra Moss; brothers-in-law, Joseph Moss (Susie) and their children, Eric Moss (Diana) and Jenna Haugen (Gabriel), Malcolm Moss, Jeffrey Moss (Teresa), Marvin Moss, Sr. (Rika) and their children, Marvin Moss, Jr., Rueben Moss, and Shari Coleman (Sharif); devoted childhood friends, William “Billy” Bonner, Clarence Beasley, John Matthews and Ricardo Wiggins; devoted neighbor and friend, Richard “Rick” Dvorak; a host of great nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Not sure what to say?

I just ran across this and I am so so sorry to hear that my classmate of 1973 had passed away. My condolences to Stephen's family and friends. May you rest in perfect peace my classmate. #1973

Praying that you'll sense God's presence
In this time of grief
And feel God's love surrounding you
And know His inner peace
For God cares so much for you
And wipes each tear you cry,
You never need to feel alone,
For He'll never leave your side.

I am so very sorry for the families loss. May God give you strength during these tough times and Bless each and every one of you as you deal with your pain!

Jackie and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. May God give you comfort at this time and always. My prayers are with you all.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing someone you loved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your loved one is in God's memory, because those who passed on are precious in his eyes. Psalm 147:3.
