Mr. Stephen Walter Pulley, Jr. “Bro”, a man of few words, but had a heart of gold, was a loving and dedicated husband, an awesome father, a fun-loving grandfather, caring brother, calm uncle, loving brother-in-law, passionate coach, proud United States Army Veteran, and blessing to many. According to his son, Stephen Ryan, if you didn’t know him, it was an injustice and a shame, you missed out! It was on Friday, March 30, 2018; Stephen “Bro” received his wings. He joined Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, VA, at an early age.
Meeting him at the pearly gates will be his warm-hearted and caring mother, Mary Eva Flowers-Pulley; father, Stephen Walter Pulley Sr.; his loving mother-in-law, Marjorie Bell Lambert-Moss, and father-in-law, John Robert Moss, Sr.; his pals, Paul and Silas Reed, who he never forgot and often talked about from the roots of Piney Beach and many more of his family members.
Coach Pulley loved life and coaching. He instilled in his players a sense of self-discipline, respect, hard work, and winning seasons. He coached with the Petersburg Department of Recreation, Dinwiddie Department of Recreation, and Dinwiddie County High School Girls and Boys Varsity Basketball Teams for many years.
His legacy will be continued by his DREAM TEAM, his confidant, best friend, ride-or-die wife of forty-two years, Jacqueline F. Moss-Pulley; his “favorite” daughter who encouraged him to never give up, Dr. Shavon Comanika; his go-to sons, Stephen Ryan who nursed him continually through his illness, and De’Quincy “Dee” who loved him to the moon and back; his daughter-in-law, Shakira that always had his back; his two grandsons, Branden Ryan, his favorite basketball player and Camren Ryan, his “Boss Baby”, and his granddaughter, Raven.
