Steve was a really good drummer/vocalist/musician and great nice guy to have the pleasure to know from our time playing together. All of the stories from the beautiful service bear out even moreso then I knew. One night at jam we went through the Zep I almost entirely as the others looked on; J Bonham light I used to think! This leaves a huge void in Bandog but he will always be with us in jam room going forward! RIP !

Reading these entries, it's apparent Steve was loved and respected by many. He was such a kind, funny, creative and talented guy, and will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. I remember fun times visiting Memere and Pepere in the country and playing with all our cousins. What a terrible loss.
I'm traveling back to Texas today from CA, and am so sorry to miss this celebration of his life.

We were so sorry to hear about Steve's passing. We always have enjoyed seeing you both and were so happy that it was not long ago when we got to speak with you both. We were talking to you about the music during cruising the coast. We were also impressed by his craftsmanship with wood. We know he will be missed by so many friends and family. Prayers to the entire Rome family for peace and comfort.

To the entire Rome Family. I have had the pleasure of working with Steve on many projects that he designed as a the Landscape Architect. He was very talented and well respected throughout the New Orleans area. We later learned that Steve was Sonia and Darlene's brother which made him even more special to us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all as you bare the loss of Stephen. May God bless each and every one of you.

Dear Carolyn, We were so sorry to hear the news. We loved the way Steve looked at life with a rare and ironic sense of humor. We valued and appreciated his talent with design and craftmanship. Although I haven't seen Steve in the over 30 years since moving out of state, I was saddened to learn of his passing - Steve was a roommate in the Pentagon dorm at LSU in a block that included Guy Hokanson and Jeff Jones - Steve helped boost my appreciation for music, maybe even for design (Steve supervised our re-painting the dorm room, and in tasteful colors!). A gentleman whose playful and dry humor I'll always remember - very sorry to hear he's gone.

Steve, I enjoyed the many years of singing and playing music with you. I will miss our fun arguments about my background vocals on "Let's get it on". The five of us made quite a team and you lead the way with your soulful drumming and subtle cues when the song would change. Awesome Greg Allman and Van Morrison vocals. Loved the way you would change up lyrics to get a laugh. No one will able to fill those drum pedals. Miss you, man.

Carolyn, I met Steve several years ago through his business... he repaired a post on one of our 4 poster beds, later built a beautiful cabinet for our foyer to display our crystal and later repaired our dining table for our breakfast area and refinished table and chairs... he was by far one of the finest men I have ever done business with... as for his wood working there may be some as good as Steve, BUT there are none better. You, your family and America has lost a great talented gentleman.

It is with great sadness that Marie and I feel after hearing about the loss of a dear friend, Steve. He was such a talented guy that I learned something new every time I visited his shop. We will always remember Steve when we look at a beautiful woodworking piece of his in our house. We are sorry we are unable to attend his service because of being in Houston with our kids. Carolyn, it is with great sadness that we received the news of Steve's passing. Cindy and I will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers. I regret not being able to see you on Saturday, but we'll be there in spirit. Steve was a great guy and will be missed. But memories of playing with him in the band will never be forgotten.

Darlene and Family, I am so sorry to hear about your brother Steve. He was a great man, full of many talents, always full of jokes and filling rooms with laughter. I have many memories from when I was a young girl with your family, the many laughs and the times shared in his company. He always took the time to catch up with happenings in our life and was genuinely interested in what we were up to. He always went out of his way to make sure we were included and welcome.
