Toale Brothers Colonial Chapel - Sarasota Obituary

Stephen F. Seidensticker, born May 13, 1953 in Bexley, Ohio to Lou and Libby Seidensticker passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family. He is survived by his four children Lisa, Joseph, Patrick, and Olivia, his siblings Jeffrey, Ellen, Louie, and Joseph, as well as three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a scattering of several thousand friends and a legacy of philanthropy and public service.

After founding the local little league in Bexley, Steve graduated from Bexley High in 1972 before attending Ohio State University. He then travelled before landing in Estes Park, Colorado where he married Patty and together they had their first child, Lisa. After travelling with Lisa seasonally between Colorado, Maine and Florida, Steve and his young family settled in Boca Grande in the early eighties.

Steve and Patty thrived in Boca Grande, growing their family with the birth of Joseph and Patrick. Steve started his career at the Gasparilla Inn, beginning as a bartender and working his way up quickly to management under the mentorship of Bayard Sharp, ultimately taking on the role of Vice President and CEO.

While in Boca Grande, Steve was a founding member of the Venice Foundation, which later became the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. He was also a member of the [Boca Grande Fire Board] that oversaw the construction of the new fire and police substation.

After a long and successful career at the Gasparilla Inn, Steve took on a position as CEO of the Annapolis Yacht Club and then became the CEO and General Manager for Williams Island Property Owners Association in Aventura, Florida.

Steve returned to Florida to co-found Tableseide Restaurant Group, which owns and operates multiple restaurants in Sarasota and the surrounding area, with his children and longtime friend, Jeff Greco.

Steve’s longtime commitment to public service and the community is notorious in the Greater Sarasota area. As Chairman of the Board of Tableseide Cares, he spearheaded efforts to employ his family’s experience in the food industry to address community needs.  The first Tableseide Cares project is to support Miss Susie’s Restaurant, a community operation in Newtown.  Steve worked with Judge Erika Quatermaine on the Comprehensive Treatment Court dealing with a homeless guardianship program. He is the recent past Board Chair of Jewish Family & Children’s Services and is was a Board Member of the Jewish Federation of Sarasota Manatee. Over the years, he served on many other local boards and received numerous accolades in recognition of his tireless public service.

A celebration of life will be held in Steve’s honor at a future date to be announced by the family.

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family is asking for donations to Steve Seidensticker Memorial Fund to benefit Miss Susie’s

c/o Gulf Coast Community Foundation, 601 Tamiami Trail S., Venice, FL 34285 or online @ gulfcoastcf.org/steve-seidensticker-memorial-fund

An inspiration to all !!

We knew Steve from Boca Grande, where he was a family friend and helped us plan our wedding celebrations at the Inn. He was wonderful to be around and great to work with. Steve's outreach in Sarasota is a wonderful example of a giving heart. Peace with love to our dear friend Patty and their kids: Lisa, Joseph and Patrick and their spouses and grandkids. The Connor family (Charles & Helen) from Stanwood Rd. Bexley have so many memories of Steve. I was couple years behind him in school but was always trying to keep up.
From all he did to all he touched it is clear Steve lived a full life and will be missed.

Much love.

Steve and I were childhood friends. We lived two houses apart on Stanwood Avenue. Lots of good times were had. We haven't seen each other in many years but did reconnect on FB over the years. To his family and friends, my condolenses. My deepest regret is not having made it to Sarasota to meet up with him. Much admiration for the work Steve was doing in his community. ❤

Steve always made me feel like family. I worked for him almost ten years. Felt like family since day one. One of my fondest memories is after I had my baby... I came to Libbys to eat and Steve came by and shared his love, then came back with a card. It said "happy easter" , but he crossed it out and wrote "happy baby" and enclosed a check. It was such a "Steve" thing to do.

What a great guy- the room lit up when Steve walked in!! He will be missed!!

I will miss you my friend.
