I'm sorry to hear about Professor Shafer's passing. I didn't know professer Shafer personally, but by virtue of his daughter. Cindy must have gotten her professionalism from her father, tho she did not talk about her family much at all. His family has my deepest sympathies.

Dr. Steve will truly be missed. As one of his students (Dowling College Class of 1987) and my educational advisor, he had a tremendous influence on the direction of my professional career. I thank him very much. Not only was he a dedicated and wonderful teacher, he was a great friend. My heart and much love goes out to Gail and Cindy. I have such wonderful memories.
