It was interesting to have known Steve. I worked with him for two years at St. Mary's University Library while we were students. Then many years later I met him again and worked with him to help educate my junior officers when I was the Adjutant of the State Guard Medical Brigade. Through Steve´s work at Texas State, so many of us benefited from his strong work ethic, deep care for students, and quiet wisdom. He made our work-and our community-better through his kindness. My deepest condolences go to his family and all who are grieving this loss.

Dr. Springer, "Steve," was a valued colleague, mentor, and friend at Texas State University. I looked forward to the days he was on campus, often with Janice as a joyful bonus. Their devotion to each other and their faith, and his service to students, staff, and faculty, provided examples for work and life. You will be missed, Steve.
