I only met Mr. Magyar once, while I was in training at a location he was doing a transfer for, but it was a lasting impression. He was very jovial and had pointers to assist me in doing my work efficiently. You could tell he was a man who had amassed much knowledge during his lifetime and was one who was willing to share that knowledge. My deepest sympathies to the the family during this time, I know he will be missed.

What a wonderful man. Steve always brought a smile and happiness to me. My wife Colleen and I will forever miss him. I met Steve and JoAnn back in the late 90s. When they were visiting our Lodge in the van. I was amazed they were able to travel this country and canada while living out of that van. We thought they were spies sent by Mooseheart to keep the Moose pure. They were not spies but were a great advertisement for the Moose. I will always remember him entering our Lodge and yelling "ain't it great to be a Moose". Yes Steve it is great to be a Moose. We will miss you my friend but will see you again.

Upon learning of "uncle" Steve's death from my sister Debbie, I read the obituary, and was filled with my childhood memories of the times we had in that huge back yard of yours on Pilgrim Rd. And the times we'd stop in at the station on the corner, either on the way to or from Mayville on our weekend visits there. Steve wasn't really our uncle, but thought of as such. He was my father's (Tony Magyar, from Mayville)cousin.

August 25, 2014

Knowing Steve was through UHaul, which lost both a fantastic business asset, but more importantly a super being who gave more to those he met, than what was given to him. Always one to brag on his kids and grandkids, his service to Mooseheart speaks volumes about those he cared about. We miss him. Barbara and Talley Calvo and all UHaul folks who knew Steve.

August 25, 2014

Mary Kay Petrie,
I read your Dad's obituary in Sunday's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and took a chance writing this note that you are the same Mary Kay Magyar I went with to Holy Angels Academy. My condolences to you and your Family. It sounds like your Dad had a full and happy life filled with so many accomplishments. God bless you all in your time of grief, knowing he is at rest in the arms of the Lord. Mary Caravella Boness, Muskego, WI

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your father and grandfather. He was quite a character. I have fond memories of childhood visits with your family. I know my Dad (Tony) loved Steve like a brother. It's a sad time, but Steve was with you all for a good long time. Take care all of you and God Bless.

August 24, 2014

I'm writing on behalf of my father, Larry Matkey, a friend of Steve's and Joanne's and Steve's co-worker in construction, etc. for so many years. This will hit my father hard. He'd been looking forward to Steve's annual summer visit and missed him this year. My father was fortunate to have someone like Steve in his life. They shared a lot of good memories when they got together. Unfortunately, my father is struggling with many of the same problems Steve had been experiencing lately. We just found out about that thanks to a note from his daughter sent to my father. My father has been hospitalized most of the summer but is at home right now.

I have clear memories of my family visiting your father and mother when we were little. All of Steve's children were so little or just being born! I can even remember what the inside of your house looked like. So, so long ago.

Your father's passing is heartbreaking but you have to say he led a very interesting life. He was certainly a very active guy with many interests.

Good luck to all of Steve's family. I hope the end for Steve was easy.
