Not sure what to say?

My wife, Julia Couzens, and I send our deepest sympathies and regrets. We knew Steve over 30 years. He and I worked together in legal services in the early 1970's and we stayed in contact intermittently after Julia and I moved to Sacramento. We remember him fondly, especially his irrepressible sense of fun and sparkling humor. We will miss him.

I am so sorry to read about Steve's passing. He and I had the great pleasure of association at the various BCBSA and ECOA ethics and compliance conferences we attended each year. We enjoyed having lunch and dinner and engaging in lively conversation about many subjects, including the benefits of meditation. He taught me some basic meditation principles and techniques I still regularly use. He described the meditation room in his home and reinforced my desire to create such a place in my...

Steve was really good to our department - he was funny and made us laugh. We loved to joke around with Steve and make him blush. He will be missed. My hope is that something good will come from this senseless loss. My Heart breaks for Steve’s family. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am stunned and saddened to hear of Steve's passing. He was such a genuinely warm person. Steve had a marvelous ability to take note of what is important in life without taking himself too seriously.

I anticapated seeing Steve at a Blue Cross Blue Shield Association meeting in Texas next month. He will be missed.

My condolences to Steve's family and loved ones.

Dear Marilyn, Rachel, Marty and Carol, it's still so hard to believe that our dear Steve is gone. His warmth, integrity, intellect, faith, courage and humor made a deep impression on us...and everyone who was lucky enough to know him. Your loving cuzes, Janice & Dan

Steve was such a great guy and I enjoyed working with him as a member of a BCBSA committee over the past several years. He was always willing to share information and advice with others in the compliance field. It's such a shock hearing about his passing and we will all miss him greatly. My sincere condolences to Steve's family and friends in this time of grief and sorrow.

I am very saddened to hear about Steve's passing. I remember him as someone who had so much energy. He seemed full of life. I will miss not seeing him at Blue Cross Blue Shield events. I will miss his big laugh. My condolences to all those who held Steve dear.

Steve was a valued colleague and friend with whom I shared many good times at Blue Cross Blue Shield events. I will miss him and offer my sincere condolences to all of his family.

I met Steve through our mutual professions and association with the BCBS Association. Steve was a true professional and a great guy. He was always willing and eager to give his well researched and well thought opinions on matters of compliance and ethics. He shared his knowledge and himself with his professional colleagues.

I am shocked and saddened by his passing. Please accept my profound condolences.
