It's just a random day in late August 2022 and I came across some music that instantly reminded me of my dear high school homeroom teacher Mr. Luboff. I saw him every school day for 4 years and he was always always always a pleasure to interact with. One day (I can't remember how it happened) I mentioned some interest in the Doors, but all my peers at that point were into hair metal and freestyle and whatever was on Top 40 radio, so I was very hesitant and quiet about my alternative tastes in music. I always remember his face lighting up and him telling me everything about the Doors. I loved every minute, but he went so much further and he brought a stack of original Doors records and literally just handed them to me and said "take these and tape anything and everything you want." I never had a teacher take such interest or show such generosity. I still have those tapes and they are beaten and worn and I always think of him when I listen. So I did some quick math and I figured Mr. Luboff must be in his late 60s or early 70s so I'm gonna look him up and see if I can connect with him and tell him how much I appreciated what he did all those years ago. I cannot put into words how much my heart dropped when I found out he passed. I wish I was just a few months earlier to at least have one conversation with him and tell him I always remember what he did for me way back when. Rest in peace Mr. Luboff, you were such a good and decent human and teacher and I'll always remember that kindness and generosity you showed me.

Mr. LUBOFF was my English teacher at SHS. He had us write in a journal everyday at the beginning of class. I continued to write in my own journals for many years. I thank him for that. May he rest in eternal peace.
