Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to Mrs. Schinke and the Schinke family over the loss of a great man, scholar, teacher, and scientist.
Jean Paglia, Columbia Social Work, Class of 1995

Steven Schinke, a scholar, an educator, a man of unusual integrity and good will, a constructive gentleman, a loving husband to Mary, and a genuine friend with a great smile. Your memory is indelibly set in our minds.

Professor Schinke will be greatly missed.

To Stevens Family and Friends.
I was so sad to hear of Steven's passing and send my sincere condolences. I remember him most for his sense of humor, highlighted by his full smile. The price of great love is great loss. My prayers and with you and your family

On behalf of the School of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison we share our condolences about Steven's passing. We were proud to have him as an alum of our doctoral program and celebrate his contributions to teaching, research and service. We appreciate his generous support of the School.

Dear Mary,
All of us in the city and up in Roxbury will miss him greatly ----- he was a friend to us all. Sending love.

Dear family and friends of Steven,
We have lost a dear friend. He changed my life, one evening when I was distressed over Statistics. He is the reason I went to Columbia UN. It was his warmth and encouragement at a time when I doubted my ability. I am able to do more for people because of his light. I am ever so grateful to this dear man. (I got to shake his hand, and I did say to him, "I love YOU!" as I graduated from CSSW). Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! We will carry your work...

Dear Mary,
My thoughts are much with you as you and we mourn the loss of Steven.

His self-deprecatory demeanor made class enjoyable and put students at ease. He was the first professor to whom I sent an email at Columbia when I was confused about a class requirement. I nervously awaited for his response, wondering...
