Steven Sedelmeier Obituary

Steven Walter Sedelmeier, 73, of Dacono, Colorado, went home to the Lord unexpectedly on May 23, 2022. Steve was born in Chicago, Illinois to Edmund and Viola Zajac. Steve spent his early childhood years in Clear Lake, Iowa and finished growing up in Thousand Oaks, California. He was adopted by his mother's second husband, George Sedelmeier. He spent many hours surfing as a teen in and around Ventura County, California and had a lifelong love of the outdoors which led him to many pastimes including hiking, biking, camping, repelling and hang gliding. He also loved photography and did it professionally, as well as for his own enjoyment. He traveled extensively across the US on his Harley Davidson and in his RV. Steve served in the Army 82nd Airborne Special Forces from 1970 - 1973 as a radio operator and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He was awarded 1st In Class during boot camp and received the National Service Medal for his service during the Vietnam War. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tennessee Temple University in 1976. In 1982, Steve moved to Colorado, but also resided in Eureka, California and Rapid City, South Dakota. He left his position as a technical illustrator at Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corporation in 1993, where he'd worked on projects involving the Hubble Telescope and the space shuttles, among others. Afterwards, he worked until retirement in private and commercial painting contracting, owning his own business (ProCraft Painting) for a time. Steve is proceeded in death by his loving wife Mary Lu Rousseaux, his son Todd Sedelmeier, his parents, his loving grandparents Otis and Hazel Gilmore, his brothers, George, Terry, and Kent Sedelmeier, and his uncle Donald Walsh, and uncle Witt Zajack. He is survived by his daughter Heather Sedelmeier; son Aaron (Katie) Sedelmeier; son Chad Sedelmeier; grandsons Myles, Roland, Donovan, Marlon Christensen; grandchildren Kendall and Camden Sedelmeier; granddaughters Airellah and Raven Sedelmeier; brother Daniel (Deborah) Sedelmeier; aunt Doris Walsh; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. A graveside inurnment will be held June 8th, 2022 at 10:15am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado, 80236, followed by a memorial service and reception at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Lakewood, Colorado, 80215 at 11am. Procession line will meet at Staging Area C by 10am at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.howemortuary.com for the Sedelmeier family.
