I was so sad to hear of Steve's passing. He not only was a classmate, but a friend, gowing up on good ol Grandview Dr. Riding bikes ,going to the creek and just hanging out. I do remember Steve and his love of music. I can recall he had a record album of music by John Phillip Sousa and he and I would try and figure out how we were going to have a parade down our street with a record player. We couldn't find an extension cord long enough. I have many fond memories of our childhood. My...

I was Steve’s accompanist in high school—we spent many hours together rehearsing, bickering like brother and sister, and performing in musical competitions. Later I visited him in New York and Cleveland where we toured galleries and he inspired me to study art history. He was an extraordinary musician and a man of brilliant intellect. I am very sorry for your loss.

Steve was one of my best friends in high school. He was so talented in art as well as music. I visited him while he lived in New York while he was going to Julliard. He took me to the opera, to concerts at Lincoln Center, and opened my eyes to a great many things. He was the one of the most unforgetable people that I've ever met in my life. I always wanted to reconnect with him, and always thought that I would someday, but alas, we don't always have all the time that we think we have. My...

Our sympathy to the Starling and Gafford families. I was an elementary school volunteer with Armeda Starling during her years at Indian Run. Being from Lima gave us a common interest.
Steven's mother was so proud of her family and shared an interest in education and the arts community which Steven also acquired. May God help to heal this profound loss in your lives.
