Not sure what to say?

Dear Susie, rest in peace. May your memory be for a blessing!

I'm so sorry to hear of Susie's illness and passing. We many long conversations about music, teaching and life. She will be missed.

My prayers and deepest sympathy to the Howell family. Susie and I were friends, classmates and apartment mates at Indiana University. I was awestruck by her incredible musicality, captivated by her delightful sense of humor, and delighted to be among her many friends. I am grateful to have known her.

Working with Susie at Christ Church was a joy; she stretched my appreciation and imagination. She has nurtured a love of music in generations of children and has educated a few clergy along the way. Thanks Susie..

Susie was a great influence in my life and memories of her will forever be held dear in my heart. Without Susie, I would not have known the joy of singing. She taught me so much, both in music and in life. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.
Much love - Kathy

My heart warms when I think back to the years in choir under her directing. She inspired and instilled in me such a love of singing and offering my voice in music of praise and worship of the Lord. I owe a debt of gratitude to the hours Susie spent working with me, teaching me and sharing her love of music and children. To God be the glory!!

Her greatest legacy are all the young lives she touched and inspired with music.

I have just arrived home after being away, and heard from Elizabeth of Susie's death. I was so sorry to hear of Susie's illness and death. Susie was such an inspiration to me when I was a member of Christ Church Blacksburg. When I left Blacksburg to move to Toronto, she wrote a beautiful Eucharistic setting for the Sisters of St. John the Divine -- one of the many ways in which I will remember her.

To John and all the family -- my prayers are with you. You will miss her so much...

Sincere sympathy from the VA Highlands chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association. This message is from all the officers and members.
