Susan C. Kovacs
Mrs. Kovacs, 83, of Charlotte, died April 29, 2004 at The Laurels at Pineville.
Mrs. Kovacs was born August 21, 1920 in Duplin County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late A.P. Lunceford and Mary Newton Lunceford. She worked as a Nurse with Hospitality Care/Beverly Health Care for 12 years and Southminster Retirement Community for more than 5 years. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.
A service to celebrate the life of Susan C. Kovacs will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004 from the sanctuary of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 1900 Emerywood Drive with The Reverend Dr. Gary C. Royals, senior minister officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:30 p.m. at McEwen Pineville Chapel.
Mrs. Kovacs is survived by her three children: Muriel K. Jones and husband, Edward C. Jones of Clemmons, NC; Linda K. Austin of Charlotte and Louis L. Kovacs of Salt Lake City, Utah; one grandson, Edward Ross Jones of Greensboro, NC; two cousins, Dr. Graham Newton of Charlotte and Dorothy Sandlin of Wilmington, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in remembrance of Susan C. Kovacs to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of Charlotte, P.O. Box 601597, Charlotte, NC 28260-1597, Hospice of Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204 or St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 1900 Emerywood Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210.

My deep sympathy goes out to all Susan's family. She was a joy to know and an inspiration. Furman and I used to enjoy walking with her in the neighborhood around her home. Her devotion to the Lord and to the families of St. Andrew's UMC will long be remembered with thanksgiving.

Susan was in my Bible Study at Peace Moravian Church in Charlotte while I was the pastor there. Her sense of humor, commitment, and dedication to Christ will be deeply missed.
