The service was beautiful and thoughtful just like Ms. Susan. My heart felt condolences to the family, Brad, Amy, Emma Grace, Brennan, Erin, Philip, Cole, Dane, Erin (Beadle), Palmer, and of course Lionel (affectionately referred to as LPL). She spoke of you all often and with so much love and affection. I feel like I know you all so well and we´ve barely spoken to each other. She loved everyone and I´ve yet to meet someone who didn´t adore her too. She will truly be missed.

Susan and I taught together for seven years, then retired at the same time, and for two years we just hung out and enjoyed each other´s company. We went to lunch, saw movies and plays, and went shopping. We laughed together and cried together. I´ll never forget how she helped me through my breast cancer. She went to the dr. with me, took me to the "survivor shop", and sat with my family in the waiting room during my surgery. I wish I could have done the same for her. She was a force to be reckoned with, and she stood up for her beliefs and convictions like no one else. That´s someone you really want on your side. Rest In Peace, dear friend, I wish I had gotten to say goodbye. I´ll never forget you.

When I first heard that Susan was in the hospital, my first thought was that Susan will beat this. She is such a strong person. While she was still able to talk on the phone, we had several talks and had made plans for lunch as soon as she was able.
Susan, up in heaven, know that you are loved and missed. We´ll meet again one day.

I met Ms. Susan when we both worked at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and we became friends. I live on a small farm and I would delight Ms. Susan with tales of my animals. She was especially fond of my donkey Jacob who was the recipient of many packages of lemon sandwich cookies, his favorite snack. Ms. Susan always made sure he always had plenty of them. When we would get together, I gave her eggs, deer meat and satsumas and in return she gave me love, friendship and wisdom. She also prayed for my daughter in law during a difficult pregnancy and offered words of encouragement to us. When baby Violet was born, Ms. Susan sent gifts to her. In essence, what I am trying to say is Ms. Susan was a kind, generous, compassionate friend who I will miss so much. I am so sorry for your loss and everyone's loss who was fortunate enough to have known her.
