Susan Strack McClure

Born in Anchorage, Alaska on February 11, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Major Francis Leroy Strack and the late Katherine McCoy Simonson. She was raised in Greenville, SC, where she graduated from Greenville High School in 1974. She attended Anderson College and later graduated from the University of South Carolina.

She is survived by her husband James Stephen McClure and her daughter Hailey Caroline Crocker of Greenville, SC, future son-in-law, Ryan Thomas Miller, of Rutherfordton, NC, and by her stepdaughter Madeline Wells McClure and stepson James Ian McClure both of Greenville, SC. She is also survived by a brother Jeffrey Francis Strack, of Crestview, FL, her sister Constance Annette Strack Hennett and Dennis Hennett of Greer, SC and sister Sally Lynn Strack Thompson and Wayne Thompson of Townville, SC.

Using her degree in Art History, Susan co-founded Crocker and Cox Interiors from 1984 through 1992. Afterwards, she pursued a very successful career in commercial flooring with CMH Flooring Products up until her retirement in 2015.

Mrs. McClure was a member of 4th Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC.

Susan and her family were beyond thankful for the support system that was constant and unwavering in Susan's final year. Throughout her very fulfilling life, she displayed a zest for life that was admired by all and allowed her amass an army of friends, family and coworkers who all considered Mom their best friend. She was adored by all and adored everyone just as much in return.

A service to celebrate the life of Susan will be held at 12pm Sunday, July 3, 2016 in the Chapel of The Mackey Mortuary.

The family will receive friends following the service until 3pm at the mortuary.

Burial will be private.

It is with sadness that I write this. Susan was such a special person with so many talents and is missed by so many.
Steve and Hailey- special love to you who are so affected by this loss.

I have fond memories of Susan and my other pals handing out at Northside Pool near her home. She was a beautiful young lady and was always cheerful, quick with a smile and laughter.

Steve, I know where you are now after also loosing my wife recently. I dont think we ever fully recover from this sort of loss but we can find a "new normal". I enjoyed Susan's friendship since 1985 when I made a career move to Greenville and was introduced to all the interior designers here. She was always so personable and I always enjoyed hearing about Hailey growing up. My heart goes out to all members of the family. I met Susan and Cindy in the late eighties. Back then we were a tight group, the Greenville designers. Fun times at the Blockhouse after work and in Chicago at Neocon. Later we both went into commercial flooring and worked together sometimes with hospital customers in SC. Susan was a natural at connecting with people and helping them with flooring, becoming friends along the way. I don't think I have ever met a more loving and caring person as Susan. Her life touched so many people and she will be greatly missed. One of the good ones that left us way too soon.
