SYLVIA K. "Babe" AVERY, of Memphis, beloved wife of Everett E. Avery, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2007. She was born in Faulkner, MS, the daughter of Dalton and Elsie Ketchum and was the youngest of their 12 children, all who have preceded her in death. She was retired from the General Electric Memphis Lamp Plant and was a member of Advent Presbyterian Church. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Everett E. Avery; and two daughters, Barbara Lapworth and Beth (Robert) Rixie, both of Memphis. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Ericka Vines, Adrian Buhler, Jennifer Warmbrod, and Robert Rixie, Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Robbie Choukeir, Callie Morgan and James Warmbrod, IV; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be Wednesday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens. Visitation will be this evening from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
