Memorial Tree

In loving memory of a wonderful father, husband, son, doctor, friend, human. Sending love to the family on this day.

Dr. Ted Burns was my Doctor starting in 2005 for approximately 2 1/5 years. He was a wonderful caring man and always took the time to listening to you. We would even text back & forth. After I was no longer a patient, he text me to say he had cancer for the 2nd time. I will always remember you. RIP SIR

Dr. Burns was a godsend for me. I will never forget the hours he spent with me one morning, to help diagnose me with a rare autoimmune disease. Having spent months with other doctors and progressively getting worse, Dr. Burns diagnosed me and created a treatment plan that has helped me improve so much. He was one of those rare doctors, who viewed you as a person first. He genuinely cared and had a true desire to help. I am so sad to hear of his passing. I am truly blessed to have known...

Ted helped me manage neuromuscular patients that I referred to him from my neurology practice in Bluefield. I will miss him.

Ted and I hung out in the summers during middle school. We competed as doubles tennis partners and overachieved, thanks to him. He was a blast to be around, and kind to everyone. We had time to burn, and laughed very hard about dumb things. There was nobody like Ted.

I'm honored to have known Doc Ted, to have been his patient, to have experienced his compassion, I feel for his family. I want them to know what an amazing human being Doc was, our move to Charlottesville was partly because of him....we spoke about all kinds of things during our visits, he loved his family, such a down to earth soul this dude was. Thanks for everything you did for us Ted!

I was mortified when I heard about Ted's passing. My heart really goes out to his family. I worked with Ted over the years, as a UVA social worker, and I so admired his demeanor and knowledge and compassion. Easy going is an overused phrase but it's true. His dedication to his patients and especially as I observed in the UVA ALS Clinic, was extraordinary. HE was extraordinary in so many ways. He will be missed. He is missed. I know his family and friends understand what a wonderful...

I just read that Dr. Ted had passed from his cancer. I'm so saddened to hear that he had passed. What a wonderful man he was and a Doctor to. I loved this guy even though he was from Kansas, lol! He was my Doctor for several years when they thought I had ALS back in the late 1990's but, thank the good Lord I didn't. Dr. Burns was the best that anyone could ask for to just talk to. Even after I was no longer a patient, we continued to text each other. The last was when he told me his...
