Teresa McMAHON Obituary

Mc MAHON, Sr. Teresa, SSL A Sister of St. Louis for 56 years, died on December 4, 2010. Born in 1935 in Dromahair, Co. Leitrim, Ireland, Sister Teresa entered religious life in 1954. She was a teacher for 17 years in elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Diocese of Orange, California, including Nativity, El Monte; St. Anthony Claret, Anaheim; St. Joseph, Long Beach; Our Lady of Malibu, Malibu; and St. Cyprian, Long Beach. She taught English and was Chairperson of the English Department at Mater Dei High School, Santa Ana from 1976 until she retired in 2002. Sister Teresa is mourned by the Sisters of St. Louis; Associates of the Sisters of St. Louis; her sisters, Camilla Barrett, Marie Celine Bradshaw, Angela Gaynor, Margaret Herriot; brothers, Bernard, Fr. Eamonn, C.S.Sp., Liam, Noel, Peter, and their families; relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Sean and sister, Gabrielle.
Visitation for the public will be at Louisville Convent, 22300 Mulholland Drive, Woodland Hills on Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mel Church, 20870 Ventura Boulevard, Woodland Hills. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Louis Retirement Fund. The last time I saw Sr. Teresa, I told her that she looked the most beautiful I had ever seen her to be. She was a valued colleague and will keep our interactions in my heart.
