Terry Dill Obituary
He was a native of Gallion, Ala., retired from the U.S. Army and worked at Home Depot, where he was an assistant manager. He was a police officer for the Elizabethtown Police Department for eight years and was a member of American Legion Post 113.
He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Edward Robertson.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Marsha Mattingly Dill; three sons, Marlon (Teshekia) Dill of McCalla, Ala., Terry Dill Jr. and Nick Mathers, both of Elizabethtown; four daughters, Lindsay Dill-Gray of Suffolk, Va., Tressica Lomax of Gallion, Wanakee (Kenneth) Lee of Lawerenceville, Ga., and Patricia Tucker of Snellville, Ga.; his mother, Jestina Dill Washington of Gallion; and 13 grandchildren. Also, 11 siblings and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Lakeside Worship Center with the Rev. Edward L. Palmer officiating.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues after 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dill, I am truly sorry for your lost. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you. I am a classmate of Terry. I was in the U.S. Army and stationed at Ft Knox. Marsha, you and Terry shared wonderful moments togeather with family, freinds. Those moments will be with you always. Terry is with the Lord above now but will always remain in your heart. Remember when you miss him just speak to him he will be there.
I dont think I have ever seen a more devoted wife that had so much to give Terry in his last months on this earth.

Danny and I always looked forward to going to Home Depot and see Terry coming down the aisle with that huge smile on his face! He is the kinda person who always brightens your day and I know his memory will be held dear in the hearts of all who know him. And I can't mention Terry and not say how much he loves God ... even in his last days on this earth, he was thanking and praising Jesus.

Marsha, I'll never forget the first time I met Terry. All I could think of was a big ole Teddy Bear! His radiant smile and wonderful personality. He was so accepting and loving. I remember the last thing that Terry said to me. He was tired and was going to bed and said "you can sit here in the kitchen all night talking to Marsha and I'll expect to see you at 7 a.m in the same spot." He walked away laughing. I know he really meant it.

I worked with Terry at Elizabethtown Police Department. We worked third shift. He was always someone you could count on when things got bad. He was a man of honor and someone I always respected and counted as a friend.
