Not sure what to say?

David was my Pastor at First Baptist Church, Altus, OK when I was a teen. I appreciated his ministry so very much ... and was licensed to preach by Altus, FBC while David was Pastor. Will look forward to a reunion with him in Heaven! Praying for the family.

Trisha and I send our prayers and thoughts to Susan and family. We only knew Dave for a short while as neighbors. He was a gracious and kind man. God bless.

David Matthews was our youth minister at Royal Lane, we truly loved him, prayers are with his family.

I was a student at Baylor University when Dr. Matthews was pastor at Seventh and James Baptist Church. No sermons have inspired me as deeply as David's. I shall never forget his parting sermon to our congregation when he left for South Carolina. My sadness at his leaving was overwhelming but his sermon was full of hope for the sweet congregation he was leaving behind. Its thesis became the theme later for my wedding - "For all that had been, Thanks! For all that shall be, Yes!"

I was Music/Youth Minister at First Baptist Church, Sanger, TX in the late 1960's. David was a thoughtful and caring pastor. Our memories are of fun meals with David and his family, thought-provoking sermons, and his joy for life. The family will be in our prayers.

Our hearts are grieved for those who have loved and appreciated David and his many gifts but we thank God today that we have shared a part of his life and he has shared ours as well....we are remembering the promises of God and know we will one day be united. What a day of rejoicing that will be! Our love and deepest sympathy to his family......

My senior year at Furman I sang in the First Baptist Choir and heard him preach weekly. What a treasure. I have nearly a hundred of his sermons and lectures on tape. He was generous in his encouragement of me and my writing. May light perpetual shine upon him.

Condolences to all the family. We always missed David from Christ Community in Orlando
